BREAKING: Atiku files 35 grounds of appeal against Tinubu at Supreme Court

Determined to contest the election victory of President Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has submitted 35 grounds of appeal to the Supreme Court.

Atiku, represented by his legal team led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, submitted the appeal on Tuesday.

Atiku’s appeal is a request for the highest court in the land to set aside the judgment handed down by the Court of Appeal on September 6.

The Court of Appeal’s decision affirmed Bola Tinubu, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the legitimate winner of the presidential election held on February 25.

In his appeal to the Supreme Court, Atiku argues that the verdict of the Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five-member panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) was not only perverse but also resulted in a significant miscarriage of justice against him.

Former Vice President, Atiku asserts that the PEPC panel made a legal error by failing to nullify the presidential election due to non-compliance with the Electoral Act of 2022.

He claims that evidence presented before the panel demonstrated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) violated existing laws and regulations governing elections.

Atiku accuses the PEPC of reaching its unanimous decision based on a gross misinterpretation and misrepresentation of provisions within both the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and the Electoral Act of 2022.
