Borno village under ISWAP attack

Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters are presently launching an attack on a village near Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was gathered that the terrorists stormed Kautukari village, some 15 kilometres away from Chibok town, shooting uncontrollably and putting houses on fire.

According to a source; “They came in this night through the nearby desert, shooting from all angles, they are currently in Kautukari village, a ward under Chibok council.

“All the villagers and soldiers ran into the bush; some are in Chibok town now,” the source said.

The attack was launched on the village shortly after United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, visited communities plagued by violence in Nigeria.

The secretary general reached Maiduguri, the state capital, Tuesday afternoon in fulfillment of his 2-day official visit to Nigeria.

He had an encounter with Governor Babagana Zulum, the surrendered Boko Haram fighters and victims of terror in the communities of the region.
