Body of woman recovered from Asa river in Ilorin
The body of a yet-to-be-identified woman has been recovered from Asa river, along Emir’s road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital city, the state fire service has said.
The discovery was made by residents at the river early Monday.
The fire service spokesperson Hassan Hakeem Adekunle in a statement said the corpse had been handed over to the police.
Earlier, it was also reported that a suspected thief and two others who chased a suspected thief into the Asa river around the Amilegbe area of Ilorin, Kwara state capital, have been declared missing three days after the incident.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, as the two men pursued the thief, who later threw the stolen phone into the river and jumped into the same river and started swimming.
After a while, they were not traced, hence the state fire service was informed about the incident for rescue.
The spokesman of the state fire service confirmed the development.
He said “We learnt the suspect stole the phone from those Igbo traders around Amilegbe area and jumped into the river when we got to the bridge.
“But up till now, after several hours of search, we have not seen any of their traces whether dead or alive,” he added.
