Banditry: ‘Rescue my constituency’ – Kwara rep member appeals to Tinubu, AbdulRazaq
A member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Adamu Saba, who represents Edu/Moro/Patigi of Kwara state in the National Assembly, has urgently appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Inspector General of Police Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and other security agencies for immediate assistance to rescue his constituency from ongoing attacks by bandits and kidnappers.
Feeling deeply traumatized by the recent events, the lawmaker offered his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. He assured constituents that efforts would be made to restore peace in the affected communities soon.
Hon. Saba highlighted the alarming situation in the Tashagi community, where a cattle rearer was murdered in his own home, and five of his children were abducted by armed men. Similarly, in Gbugbu community along Ndeji road, a businessman and his manager have been missing for over two weeks following their kidnapping.
In a statement provided to journalists in Ilorin by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Bello Hamidu, Saba expressed concern over the safety of residents, stating, “Infact, as we speak, they’re asking for more ransom and threatening to harm the victims.” He went on to explain, “My people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed; going to farm for their livelihood has become increasingly dangerous due to fear of attacks.”
The lawmaker stressed that this situation is intolerable, stating, “This kind of inhuman and criminal activities can no longer be accepted. Something needs to be done urgently to return the situation to normalcy in my constituency.”
He reiterated his appeal for intervention, saying, “I’m appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our performing Governor, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, and the efficient Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to quickly come to our rescue. The situation is really bad due to the activities of bandits and kidnappers.”
Saba concluded by sympathizing with the residents during this difficult time, assuring them of his commitment to work alongside state and federal governments to secure the safety of lives and properties not only in the community but throughout the entire constituency.
