Audu Musa must resign as ABS Foundation DG over 2027 ambition — Kwara South PDP Youths

…Says Foundation’s Principles and Partisan Ambition Are Parallel Lines

The Kwara South Youth Alliance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the immediate resignation of Dr. Audu Musa, the Director-General of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Foundation, following his recent declaration to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti, and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency.

In a statement signed by the group’s state secretary, Ambassador Timilehin Ogunleye, and issued on Tuesday, the alliance described Dr. Musa’s political declaration as “ethically inappropriate and politically insensitive,” given his current position in the foundation, which operates under the moral authority of the PDP leader and patron, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (GCON).

The group noted that while every qualified member of the PDP has the right to aspire to elective office, Dr. Musa’s ambition could be misinterpreted as an endorsement from Dr. Saraki, who has repeatedly maintained a position of neutrality ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“It is on record, and we hold the leader by his word, that he has publicly, consistently, and firmly maintained that he will neither favor nor impose any aspirant,” the statement read. “We find it ethically inappropriate for the DG of the ABS Foundation to simultaneously pursue a partisan ambition that creates the impression of endorsement from the same leader who has vowed to remain neutral.”

The group further alleged that Dr. Musa and his associates had been leveraging his position as DG of the ABS Foundation to project himself as a “Saraki-anointed candidate,” describing the move as “misleading and an abuse of office.”

“Elective offices in Kwara South are not Christmas gifts to be bestowed by anyone,” the statement added. “They are sacred mandates of our people — mandates that can only be freely given through their collective will.”

The Youth Alliance also recalled that Dr. Musa had earlier indicated interest in the Kwara South Senatorial race before shifting focus to the House of Representatives, a development the group said raises “genuine concerns about his sincerity of purpose.”

The group reiterated its rejection of any attempt to use the ABS Foundation — an institution built on philanthropy, unity, and service — as a political platform, insisting that Dr. Musa should resign immediately to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.

“This call is not born out of malice but rooted in our shared commitment to fairness, accountability, and respect for the moral boundary that separates institutional service from personal political ambition,” the statement concluded.

The group expressed confidence that Dr. Saraki would act decisively to preserve his reputation for fairness and uphold the democratic values he represents.
