Nigeria needs a leader capable of solving its problems: Atiku The Informant247

Atiku: I will run for presidency in 2027 to rescue Nigeria

In a decisive response to recent rumors suggesting he may withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has confirmed his commitment to the election.

Speaking through Prof Ola Olateju at a gathering where political figures defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos, Atiku expressed that his goal transcends personal ambition for the presidency.

Olateju remarked, “Atiku Abubakar’s plan is to build a better Nigeria, it’s not about being President; it’s about establishing a government that works for Nigerians.” This statement, however, did not reflect Atiku’s own views on his political future.

In a telephone conversation with Professor Tunde Olusunle, a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Atiku asserted his determination to pursue the presidency.

“I did not issue that statement; when people stand in for me at events, we preview my thoughts… so we are on the same page,” he clarified, distancing himself from Olateju’s comments.

Atiku emphasized the urgent need for Nigeria to regain its footing and have its issues addressed. He stated, “Nigeria needs to be decisively rescued from the intensive care unit it has been consigned; the degeneration in our country… is unacceptable.”

He expressed his intention to lead the charge towards restoring the nation, tackling corruption, poverty, and accountability.

Commenting on the ADC coalition, Atiku dismissed concerns about its recent electoral performance, stating, “ADC is leading a potent mass movement which will shock the world.”

He expressed confidence that, despite challenges, the coalition would rally support and transform the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
