Anambra and Enugu Police Commands join forces to combat border crimes
The Anambra and Enugu States Police Commands have synergized to implement operational strategies aimed at tackling border crimes affecting both states.
In a significant meeting held on Monday, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, and Enugu State Commissioner, CP Mamman Giwa, came together to devise proactive policing methods in response to rising security challenges in the region.
During the meeting, both commissioners acknowledged the need for enhanced cooperation in light of the police guidelines set forth by Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. A statement from Anambra State police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, highlighted that the commissioners identified the infiltration of criminals across their borders as a critical security issue that demands immediate attention.
As a result, they committed to collaborating on intelligence sharing and combining operational resources to effectively address violent crimes within their jurisdictions. Both commissioners pledged to tackle all forms of criminal activity decisively, emphasizing the importance of public safety and security.
In a warning to criminals operating between the two states, they stressed the importance of either reforming their ways or facing the full consequences of the law.
The meeting at the Anambra State Command Headquarters brought together Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Operations and various other officers from both commands to strategize on these pressing issues.
