AMAA Founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is dead

The founder of the prestigious Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA Awards), Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is dead.

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was a director and producer in Nigeria who was often referred to as “the queen of Nollywood films.” She established the Africa Movie Academy Awards, an event widely recognized as a milestone in the world of film.

Information obtained indicates that Anyiam-Osigwe passed away on Monday at St. Nicolas Hospital in Lagos.

One of the cornerstones of Nigeria’s entertainment industry reportedly has been in a coma since last Saturday.

Famous filmmaker Zik Zulu told her coworkers and friends the news, even though some of them are still struggling to accept the truth.

He wrote on a Nollywood platform, “Our President, Peace, has passed. As of Saturday, she was reported to be in a coma at Saint Nicholas. But now her family has confirmed her transition. May the memory of her life be a blessing. Rest in peace, dear Peace.”

Obi Emelonye, an award-winning producer, also shared the news of her death on his social media accounts.
The hardworking woman’s impact on the film industry cannot be understated, and she will be remembered as a pioneer of the new Nollywood.

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was the founder of the African Movie Academy Awards and one of the most influential people in Nollywood (AMAA). She was also the AMP’s president.
