AGF promises to publish FAAC allocation, uphold prudence, transparency
Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, the Accountant General of the Federation, has reiterated her dedication to promoting principles of prudence, transparency, and accountability in government financial transactions.
In a statement released in Abuja, Dr. Madein affirmed her commitment to addressing observed and potential challenges that may hinder the effective implementation of financial management reforms initiated by the Federal Government.
She emphasized her intention to resolve these issues permanently.
Dr. Madein stated that since taking office, she has conducted an extensive review of financial reforms and intends to inject new ideas and strategies to sustain the progress made so far.
She highlighted recent improvements in the operations of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) following meticulous engagements with service providers.
The Accountant General of the Federation further disclosed ongoing reviews of other financial management policies, with the aim of revitalizing them for optimal functionality.
She pledged to continue the practice of publishing detailed information regarding the distribution of revenue from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to the three tiers of government.
Dr. Madein believes that this transparency in revenue distribution will enable Nigerians to stay informed about the government’s revenue generation and distribution efforts, allowing them to assess government performance in alignment with revenue inflows.
Dr. Madein emphasized the importance of citizens’ awareness of public funds’ inflows and expenditures, stating that this awareness is vital for evaluating government performance.
