Again, troops repel ISWAP Attack in Borno
In a display of bravery and tactical superiority, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai have once again thwarted a coordinated attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Bitta, within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. This incident occurred around 10:25 PM on July 25.
The latest encounter comes just days after a similar assault by Boko Haram on the same community.
The Defense Headquarters, while confirming the development, said that despite the intensity of the firefight, no military casualties were recorded during this operation.
A statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army detailed that although the attackers advanced from the Damboa axis and briefly breached the defensive perimeter, the troops quickly regained control. “Several terrorists were neutralized, and AK-47 rifles were recovered,” the report stated.
On July 28, the Acting General Officer Commanding (Ag GOC) 7 Division visited Bitta to evaluate the situation and directed the immediate remobilization of troops. The current situation in the area remains calm yet unpredictable, with troop morale and combat readiness reported to be high.
