ABS FC see off tough Hyperbuzz FC as NNL first stanza ends

ABS FC’s resolve was put to test on Sunday before squeezing out a win against the Abuja-based Hyperbuzz FC in their last game of the NNL first stanza.

The ‘Saraki Army’ would have Arinze Oyota thanked for hitting a brace that would ultimately decide the encounter played at the Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso.

ABS FC looked quite bright early on in the first half , yet some of the closest chance coming from Malik Surajudeen crosses were not efficiently connected.

Just as Malik continued to belabour the visitors in their halve, he was eventually hacked down at the edge of the box.

Stepping up to take the free kick, Arinze Oyota slotted in a last angle shot which defied the last stretch of the Hyperbuzz’s goalkeeper-thus giving the homeside a lead.

While the visitors reacted more determinedly, their lack of clinical finish at the cutting edge didn’t help their efforts upfront.

Coming into the second half, Hyperbuzz continued their thrust upward and would later be handled an oppurtuinity of equalizer but had the goal ruled out by the Referee who cited a foul play on goalkeeper Boje Abdullahi in the 59th minutes.

Meanwhile, drama will later ensue when Malik was once again fouled in the 18-yard-box ,thus handing the homeside a penalty.

The visitors in a what could be described as a protest stayed out of the game for about 10 minutes before eventually returning back to action.

Oyota would again step up and turn in the penalty to make it a brace and double for his side.

While the match wears on, the Hyperbuzz boys found their way into the backline of ABS FC and gained a penalty after a defender hacked down one of their attackers.

Expectedly, William Igor converted the spot kick and reduced the deficit for the visitors.

However, just some minutes away to the end of the game, Malik again did set up Jamiu Saa’d who would have his goal cancelled due to offside.

The NNL will go on a week break from April 17th when the midseason transfer will also be opened and resume back on 25th of April.

The league body targets that the season will come to its end on 20th of May.
