AbdulRazaq’s garment factory shines as a catalyst for economic development in Kwara
The Kwara Garment Factory has emerged as a significant driver of economic growth and job creation in Kwara State, with Managing Director Hajia Bukola Adedeji praising Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his visionary leadership.
In a recent interview on Radio Kwara, Hajia Adedeji highlighted the factory’s pivotal role in advancing the state’s economic landscape.
Describing the factory as a flagship legacy project of the AbdulRazaq administration, Hajia Adedeji noted its purpose of bolstering the State’s internally generated revenue (IGR) and creating sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for women and youth. “The factory stands today as a testament to Governor AbdulRazaq’s foresight and genuine passion for empowering the people of Kwara,” she remarked.
Though still awaiting official commissioning, the factory has already begun full operations, employing over 245 trained workers, with plans to expand to 4,000 employees. The factory is set to produce approximately 6,000 garments daily, poised to make a significant contribution to the local economy.
Equipped with advanced machinery, including the Oshima Cutting Machine—one of only eight in the world and the sole unit in West Africa—the Kwara Garment Factory is rapidly establishing itself as a leader in garment manufacturing both in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Hajia Adedeji showcased several successful projects executed under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, including high-quality sportswear for the Kwara contingent at the National Youth Games and customized apparel for special occasions, such as the Kwara Diocese’s 50th Anniversary.
The factory has also produced over 25,000 tote bags for a major organization in Abuja and crafted souvenirs for the First Lady of Nigeria’s visit. Recent developments include securing an order from the Nigerian Air Force for aso-oke souvenir bags and interest from the Nigerian Police Trust Fund for police uniform production.
“The achievements we’ve made are directly attributable to the supportive environment created by the State government, which has enabled us to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) for expansion,” she stated.
Hajia Adedeji expressed deep gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his steadfast support, emphasizing that the Kwara Garment Factory is more than just a manufacturing hub; it represents a commitment to transforming lives and fostering a legacy of prosperity for future generations.
As the Kwara Garment Factory continues to develop, it stands as a model of hope and economic empowerment, reinforcing the AbdulRazaq-led administration’s dedication to inclusive growth and sustainable development in Kwara State.
