Abducted Lata Nna resident, Alhaji Adam Gbechi, regains freedom after 150m ransom demand
Alhaji Adam Gbechi, a resident of Lata Nna in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, has regained his freedom days after being abducted by suspected bandits.
He was released on Monday morning, barely 24 hours after his captors had demanded a ransom of 150 million for his release.
A close relative, who confirmed the development to Nupekotvlafiagi under the condition of anonymity, disclosed that no ransom was paid before his release.
“No,” the source simply said when asked if the family met the kidnappers’ demand.
Alhaji Gbechi was kidnapped on Sunday night alongside his brother, Alhaji Aji Hajaworo, and a married woman during a late-night raid on the community. However, both Hajaworo and the woman managed to escape shortly after the abduction, leaving Gbechi in captivity.
