The Kwara State Government has said it has successfully trained 500 teachers on the modern learning approach, among others, in the recent ongoing training workshop organised by Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP).

The teachers drawn from the five Local Government Areas, which include Moro, Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Oyun, and Offa, participated in the first phase of the training organised by NLP in conjunction with Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, while speaking at the training workshop held at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin, said the initiative is an online educational approach that would provide continuous access to quality education, adding that the purpose of the training is to improve teachers’ knowledge and expertise to face computer age challenges, as the State is set to move from analogue to digital.
Hajia Modibbo Kawu also emphasised that the present administration had embarked on a series of workshops for teachers across the State in response to the resolution of education solutions globally, expressing that the training will yield and increase the output of teachers positively in the classroom while advising participants to put to use the knowledge gained in the workshop and impart positively on their students for overall growth and development.

Earlier, the Director, Human Capital Development, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mallam AbdulRasaq Olooru, applauded the State government for investing in manpower development in the teaching profession.
He urged the participants not to allow the exercise to go in vain and encouraged them to put all they had learnt during the workshop into action, urging them always to upgrade their knowledge.
In his remarks, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Education Officer, Mr. Bala Dada, congratulated the participants for their patience and commitment throughout the exercise.
Mr Dada noted that UNICEF developed the programme in partnership with Microsoft and others to provide access to Nigeria’s education curriculum from anywhere in the country. He advised them to see the workshop as a golden opportunity that would afford them the right approach to their job interaction.
The participants appreciated the governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his laudable achievements in revamping the education sector in the state and urged the government to continue the programme to ensure that the teachers discharge their duties efficiently.
