34-yr-old man in court for allegedly stealing diesel worth N700,860 in Lagos

A man, Adamu Yakubu, was on Tuesday arraigned before a court over alleged theft of diesel worth N700,860.

The 34-year-old man appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing diesel worth N700,860.

Yakubu, whose address of residence was not disclosed, is standing trial of a two-count charge which borders on stealing.

When the matter was read to the defendant, he however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mr Olusegun Kokoye, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant, among others carried out the offence on October 24.

Kokoye revealed that the offence was in contravention of the Section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Mrs Sakirat Obasa, the Magistrate, admitted the defendant to the sum of N100,000 bail two sureties in like sum.

Obasa added that one of the sureties must be a relation of the defendant and his address of residence must be subjected to the verification of the court.

Obasa has adjourned the matter until December 17 for mention.
