3 property agents in court for alleged fraud in Abuja
The Police, on Wednesday, arraigned three Property Agents in a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, for alleged fraudulent sale of a property in Abuja.
The police charged Rachel Oriyomi, Joel Aloysius, and blessing Nimi, all of Zone 7, Duste Alhaji, Abuja with six-count charge.
The charge includes joint act, criminal trespass, breach of trust, cheating, and fraudulent execution of deed of transfer containing false statement of consideration and giving false evidence.
The prosecution counsel Chinedu Ogada told the court that on Nov.15, 2021, Mr Rasheed Oriyomi of Duste Alhaji, Abuja, came to Area Command Headquarters, Kubwa via a letter of petition, written by Mr Kabiru Oriyomi.
The complainant, Oriyomi who is currently in custody at the correctional centre, Suleja, Niger State, reported all the three defendants, including Chief Bala Mai-Angwa of Duste Alhaji who is presently at large.
Ogada alleged that on April 16, 2019, all the four defendants conspired among themselves and fraudulently sold a property belonging to the complainant.
The prosecution counsel alleged that during police investigation, it was revealed that only the sum of N570, 000, was deposited into a GTB account number 0153963725 bearing Blessing Nimi.
Ogada said further investigation by the police revealed that all defendants benefited financially from the sale of the property, confessed to the crime, but could not give a satisfactory account of their actions.
The counsel said the offence contravenes the provision of Sections 79, 348, 12, 322,177 and 158 of the penal code law.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Presiding Judge, Ismailia Abdullahi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200, 000, with one surety each in like sum.
Abdullahi ordered that the surety must be a civil servant on Grade Level 10, must submit a passport photograph and photocopies of their credentials, which must be verified by the court registrar.
The Judge adjourned the case until Feb. 2, for hearing. (NAN)
