3 days after coronation, Owolabi begins door-to-door widow’s empowerment

The lawmaker representing Share/Oke-Ode Ifelodun constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rasaq Owolabi, on Tuesday, commenced door-to-door empowerment programme for widows in his constituency.

The empowerment came 3-day after he was conferred the chieftaincy title of OluOmo of Oke-Ode by His Royal Highness, Oba Abdulkadri Adelodun, Alebi-osu II.

During the door-to-door empowerment that lasted for 4 hours, the lawmaker charged the beneficiaries to use the money given to them judiciously.

He said, “I understand the situation of things in the country, the coronavirus pandemic affected us and our economy a lot. What I’m doing today is in continuation of what I’ve started even before the pandemic. I thank God that we are alive.

“I’ve always say this, for supporting the government of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, we won’t suffer but enjoy the dividend of democracy. We will enjoy our votes.

“The empowerment today is majorly for our aged widows, the money is for their upkeeps during this festive period. I can assure you, more is coming. Thank you for supporting us and for praying for us at all times.”

Some of the beneficiaries, who could not hold back their joy, appreciated the lawmaker.

In her remarks, Alimotu Jimoh, from Ile-offa said Owolabi has been able to rekindle her hope for the coming year adding that the money will be used to procure procure food for his family.

For her part, Ibrahim Mulika, from Ile Adeyi, prayed God to always see the lawmaker through in his endeavor.

Musa Aishat of Ile Ajiboro in an emotional ton urged politicians to take cue from Hon. Owolabi.

“It is always good to remember where one comes from, for those politicians who hardly visit their constituencies, change,” she said.
