Kano Senator Barau Jibrin

2nd anniversary: “With Tinubu, Nigeria is on path to prosperity” – Deputy Senate President

Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate and APC representative for Kano North, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s trajectory towards prosperity as the country celebrates the second anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a recent statement released by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau praised the President’s leadership during this transformative period.

“I join all Nigerians and admirers around the world in congratulating His Excellency, the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the occasion of this government’s second anniversary,” Barau stated.

Reflecting on the challenges faced at the start of Tinubu’s administration, Barau recognized the progress made in addressing key issues.

“We’ve seen how he has genuinely dealt with our twin main challenges: security and economy. We know we are not where we want to be, but the journey has started. It’s a work in progress,” he remarked.

Barau highlighted significant achievements in security, specifically in the North West, where he noted that many terrorists have been neutralized and previously unsafe areas have been reclaimed.

“Most areas that have been tagged as no-go zones have been recovered. The instances of incessant kidnapping on the Abuja/Kaduna road have become history,” he affirmed.

In addition to security improvements, he pointed to the decline in violence in the Southeast, crediting the government for a reduction in the activities of unknown gunmen.

He expressed optimism about the establishment of development commissions across various regions, which he believes will facilitate further growth and progress.

The Deputy Senate President also discussed the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as unprecedented and stating that over 300,000 Nigerian students have already benefited from this initiative.

He continued, “The endorsement for a second term by all APC stakeholders is to give him enough time to complete the programs and policies he has started.”

Senator Barau, however, reiterated the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and called for unity among Nigerians.

“I, therefore, call on Nigerians of all persuasions to continue to pray for our leaders and the well-being of our country and to offer their full support to President Tinubu as he resets our dear nation for peace and socio-economic prosperity,” he concluded.
