28-year-old bags 3 months jail term for stealing television set
An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta, on Friday, sentenced a 28-year-old man, Olayinka Kamorudeen, to three months imprisonment for stealing an LG Plasma television.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. M Somefun, sentenced Kamorudeen after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
Somefun said all evidence presented to the court proved beyond reasonable doubt that Kamorudeen was guilty of the offences as charged.
Somefun sentenced Kamorudeen to three months in prison with an option to pay a fine of N200,000.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Asp Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 25 at 1.00 p.m. at Oke-Sokori area of Abeokuta.
Shonibare said the defendant broke into the apartment of the complainant, Mr Adegbenro Ismail, and stole an LG Plasma television valued N75, 000.
He said the defendant was caught while he was trying to sell the plasma television.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Section 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
