26 years after retirement, Man Utd legend, Eric Cantona launches musical career

Manchester United legendary forward Eric Cantona will launch his musical career 26 years after retiring from football.

Cantona will herald his new found career by embarking on both a UK and European tour

After his retirement in 1997, the Frenchman has taken to acting and has regularly promoted an array of companies.

An announcement on Friday confirmed that the 57-year-old would be making his live singing debut during a UK and Ireland live tour.

He is set to perform three live shows in Manchester, London and Dublin in October, while he will also tour Europe.

The tour, which is entitled ‘Cantona Sings Eric On Stage’,will be accompanied by his first-ever debut solo single on Friday June 2.

Speaking about the tour, Cantona said: “Next year, I’ll be playing with a band, but for now, I’m starting with a modest piano to play alongside me in intimate venues.

“I’ll be starting in Manchester because it’s a city that has stayed with me so much for football, of course, but also the general atmosphere” he said.

Cantona infamously brought his footballing career to an end at just the age of 30 in 1997.

In the intervening years,, the now he also had a brief stint as Director of soccer with American club, New York Cosmos.
