24-yr-old painter remanded for allegedly raping minor in Ilorin

It’s definitely not a fortunate day for the 24 years old painter, Daniel Lawrence, who allegedly raped a minor at Irewolede area of Ilorin, Kwara State, as he was remanded in Oke Kura Correctional Service Centre.

Police First Information Report, stated the matter was transferred from ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Surulere, to the Anti Woman Traffic, Women and Children Protection, Ilorin.

It was reported that one Mrs Florence Emmanuel entrusted her son with her junior sister to take him to school.

While coming back, Lawrence reportedly crossed the victim’s way and rapped her.

Lawrence was said to have taken the victim to a paper factory situated in the same area where he forcefully had sexual intercourse with her without consent

A police report disclosed that Lawrence confessed to having committed the offence at the Anti Human Trafficking section when he’s been questioned.

Abubakar Issa, who prosecuted the case, kicked against the bail application of the defendant saying rape case is now a serious offence in the society that must be handled with all seriousness.

Magistrate Marriam Bimbo Folorunsho, in his short ruling, ordered the remand of Lawrence in the Correctional Service Centre while the matter was adjourned to 26th March 2021.
