2027: I’m in a coalition against bad governance, hunger, poverty – Peter Obi clarifies
The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has emphasized that his participation in the coalition for the upcoming 2027 elections is centered around the fight against bad governance, hunger, and poverty, rather than personal political ambitions.
Obi made this statement during an event in Kubwa, where he contributed to a school and hospital project organized by the Anglican Church. His comments come in light of reports suggesting an alleged agreement with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to serve as his Vice President in the next elections. According to these reports, Atiku had purportedly agreed to serve for just one term and was open to formalizing this agreement in writing.
When questioned by Vanguard about the validity of such an arrangement, Obi refrained from confirming or denying it. Instead, he reiterated, “You can make of the report what you want, but I’m in a coalition against bad governance, hunger, and poverty.”
His remarks highlight a prioritization of national development and social welfare over individual political gain.
