2023: Senate President Ahmed Lawan wins re-election bid

The Senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, has won the Yobe North Senatorial District, as as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Professor Omolola Aduloje from the Federal University Gashua, Bade Local Government, who’s the returning officer of Yobe North announced the result.

She revealed that Lawan who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), gathered 91,318 votes to conquer Ilu Alhaji-Bello, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and who had 22,849 votes.

Lawan was confirmed the winner of Yobe North Senatorial Election by the returning officer.

The Informant247 recalls that Lawan was nominated for the senatorial seat on the platform of the APC, as he didn’t participate in the senatorial contest.

Lawan contested for the presidential primary election of the ruling party and lost the ticket to the presidential candidate of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu.

The Supreme Court declared Lawan the winner of the senatorial ticket of the party after legal battle with Bashir Machina who was claiming the seat.
