2020 budget review: Kwara govt meets CSOs

The Kwara state Ministry of Finance and Planning on Friday held a stakeholders’ meeting with civil society organisations on budget processes and implementation as part of the ongoing review of the 2020 appropriation law to adjust with the global economic crisis occasioned by the fall in oil price.

The INFORMANT247 reports that the state government had earlier revealed it would slash the year 2020 budget.

The Kwara state Commissioner for Finance and Planning Florence Oyeyemi after the meeting said, “In line with the Open Government Partnership (OGP), this administration is fulfilling all conditions that are necessary for transparency and accountability, including the aspect of OGP relating to the civil society organisations (CSOs) in the areas of budget preparation as it affects the 2020 budget which is being revised.

“This is an avenue to discuss with civil society organisations to let them know what we are preparing and the figures we are proposing. This avails the CSOs the opportunity to make contributions for the government to better serve Kwarans.”
