2 Nigerian women arraigned for ‘stealing’ electric lamps

LAGOS, Nigeria (The Informant247) – Two Nigerian women, Goodness Azi and Agnes Ejah , were on Friday arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Ojo, Lagos for ‘stealing’ electric lamps and a cheque book.

The police charged Azi, 30, and Ejah, 29, with four counts bordering on conspiracy and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offence sometime in February .

He alleged that the defendants stole electric amps at the Alaba International market belonging to Micheal Agazie worth N251,000.

The defendants were also alleged to have stolen N3.5 million belonging to the complainant.

In count four, the first defendant was alleged to have stolen a United Bank of Africa cheque booklet one Nokia phone and one MTN phone belonging to Michael Ele Progress stores represented by one Njideka Agazie.

The offence, the prosecution said contravenes the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Magistrate J.K Layeni admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties each in like sum

He adjourned the case until Oct. 19 for trial.
