2 men remanded in prison for alleged armed robbery
Two men were on Tuesday remanded in a correctional centre over alleged criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.
They were remanded in a correctional centre on the directive of a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday.
The court rejected the pleas of the defendants, 34 year-old Abubakar Zubairu, and 32 year old Aminu Wasiu.
Hajara Dauda, who’s the Magistrate, directed the defendants to be kept in remand till the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will lend his advice.
She has adjourned the matter until November 28, for mention.
Insp Sunday Baba, who’s the prosecutor, earlier informed the court that the defendants, carried out the offence on October 12, at Agwa New Extension Trikania, Kaduna State .
Baba said the defendants and three other persons armed with harmful weapons such as gun, launched an attacked on and robbed one Mary James at her house.
The prosecutor made an allegation that the defendants dispossessed the complainant of her Gold jewelleries worth N1m, RAV 4 Utility car worth at N6.5m, N300,000 cash and one IPhone 12 worth at N155, 000.
Baba informed the court that the defendants were apprehended at Nasarawa area of Kaduna by a team of police officers connected to the State Criminal and Investigation Department.
He said that during the investigation of the police, the defendants reportedly made a confession that he carried out the crime.
Baba said the offence was in violation of the provisions of sections 59 and 238 (1)(2)(a) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
