14m votes ready for Tinubu in S/West – SWAGA
Senator Dayo Adeyeye has declared that nothing short of 14 million persons are eager to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in south western Nigeria if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) makes Tinubu its flagbearer of the party for the 2023 presidential election.
He made this revelation while leading members of the South West Agenda 2023 for Asiwaju, (SWAGA), a political group, to the Media Trust Limited, publisher of the Daily Trust and Aminiya titles in Abuja yesterday.
Adeyeye boasted that the former governor of Lagos state enjoyed the solidarity of nothing short of 70 to 80 percent registered voters in south western Nigeria.
“In the Southwest, if the elections come up today, we can get nothing less than 14 million votes from the region. And I don’t think there is any other candidate who can command such kind of votes from his geopolitical zone. And I have already factored in voter apathy. If you can look at the voter’s register in the region, it is almost double of that figure. When I said 14 million votes, I am saying that with all sense of responsibility without any iota of doubt,” he said.
He said even though Tinubu is not the only presidential aspirant from the zone, the south western people of Nigeria have resolved to throw their weight behind Tinubu.
He confessed that they have got assurance of support from over 300 traditional rulers and about 200 groups in the south west to promote and actualize the emergence of Tinubu in the presidential election.
