Kwara begins preparations for 2027 Hajj, fixes Sept. 26 deadline for initial deposit

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced preparations for the 2027 Hajj exercise, announcing September 26, 2026, as the deadline for intending pilgrims to pay the initial deposit.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had allocated 2,058 Hajj slots to Kwara State for the 2027 pilgrimage.

He said intending pilgrims are required to pay an initial deposit of ₦6 million to secure their slots, noting that the final Hajj fare has yet to be determined due to ongoing planning, logistics and other operational costs.

According to him, payments should be made through a bank draft obtained from any commercial bank in the name of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Abdulkadir also advised intending pilgrims whose international passports would expire before the 2027 Hajj to renew them, saying the directive aligns with the latest policy introduced by the Saudi Arabian authorities.

The executive secretary said no casualty was recorded among pilgrims from Kwara State during the 2026 Hajj exercise, adding that the board provided comfortable accommodation and local Nigerian meals for pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

He urged intending pilgrims to undertake the pilgrimage with sincerity, describing Hajj as an act of worship that requires patience and complete submission to Allah.

He added that prospective pilgrims must be physically fit, mentally sound and at least 16 years old to qualify for the pilgrimage.

Abdulkadir assured intending pilgrims of the state government’s commitment to providing efficient and transparent services throughout the 2027 Hajj exercise and urged interested Muslims to complete their registration and initial payment before the September 26 deadline.
