Rev. Fr. Joseph Shekari of St Monica’s Catholic Church, Ikulu Parish, has been abducted, according to the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.

Ikulu Parsh is located in Kaduna State’s Kauru Local Government Area.

The Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okolo, claimed in a report on Monday that Shekari was abducted from his apartment about 11.30 p.m. on Sunday.

Okolo asked for prayers and stated that the Church will do all legally necessary to ensure the priest’s swift and safe release.

“May Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross, hear our prayers and speed the unconditional release of His priest and all those abducted,” he added.

He did, however, warn members and inhabitants of the area not to take the law into their own hands as a result of the incident.
